Kate & Midway

Let me introduce you to dear Kate.  As in, Kate Spade New York.

It's really not a great picture, I'm fully aware.  And you can't even see the actual color of Kate, so let me find a professional picture real quick...

There. That's better.

Anyways I got Kate for my birthday, and I love her with my whole heart.  How could you not, though?

Got some beautiful pictures to post from Fall Break... but we'll save that for later:)

Homecoming 2012

Hey I'm back. Not going to rant about myself slacking off again... but let's just say don't give up on me quite yet:)

So.  What you've all been waiting for (for much too long).

Homecoming 2012.... Basically the best first date out there:) (and thanks to my sweet date... but I'm doubting that he'll see this.)

Skirt: J.Crew Belt: J.Crew Shoes: DSW (ps they're suede... loving it for fall...) Necklaces: My mother's Blouse: H&M.  It was actually a shift dress... but we just cut it and had it hemmed to make it into this darling top! Felt pretty creative.

My crazy, crazy group.  But I'm pretty sure we had the most fun out of anybody there...

Just the best day.
PS Sorry I don't have more actual pictures of the dance... but frankly I'm  not quite sure on how to get the pictures legally from the photographer....

That's all for now... happy fall break!!

Quite Impressive.

frockcandy.com

I was impressed.  I really and truly was.  And also a little bit heartsick at all of the adorable accessories, tops, shoes, and etc.  This site is packed with little trinkets that are both 100% adorable and 100% affordable.  For real.  Not like "affordable for the girl with her parent's credit card".  No.  Like "affordable for the girl with NO credit card, but a passion for style, and a babysitter's budget".

For instance.

These made my wishlist (and my shopping bag)

Color Clash Clutch: $29

Jumper-S Coral Braided Cork Wedges $39

Passion Fruit Sheer Faux Button Up: $29

Sea Urchin Earrings: $14

Seeing Clearly Glasses: $10

Solar Flare Earrings: $14

SCORE.

I'm currently crossing my fingers for both pairs of earrings, and is it just me? Or did I see some wedges that looked practically EXACTLY like those at Nordstrom for a wee bit more than $39? Just a thought.

Toodles.

Slacker in Red

Oh my heavens.  I am such a slacker.  It's been what... two weeks since I last posted? Let's just say that summer fever (that's a thing, right?) has gotten to me and lately I've been more than a little scatterbrained.  But that's okay.  As long as I pull it together for REAL LIVE HIGH SCHOOL in ONE MONTH and 2 days!!!!!

There is also precisely one month and 21 days until my sweet sixteen.  Ya boy.

Moving on.

This little outfit is one that I'm saving for back to school, but I just had to share it with all of my lovely followers...

Everybody needs a neutral, pull over sweater like this.   You can honestly wear it with about anything in your closet.  And in any way you want! I layered it over and dark blue and white striped J. Crew blouse, with red cutoffs from Old Navy.   The sweater itself is from BP in Nordstrom (my home away from home).  The cutoffs dress it down a bit, but the collar and top knot give it a bit of a preppy... hipster... nerdy look that I've come to adore.   I didn't bother putting on any shoes with this outfit... (summer fever again) but I'd probably go with a white sandal or even the right shade of brown.  Up to you.  You can't see the earrings all that well, unfortunately, but they're darling little crystal drops edged in gold from Quincee's Boutique in American Fork, Utah!! SIX DOLLARS.  Yes.  Score.

A Bit of Whimsy

Well here we are... another not-quite-summer-but-we're-getting-there morning.  So this morning I threw on a kind of gauzy, whimsical white skirt with a steel blue and white striped tee shirt, and a gorgeous gold and pale pink necklace from J. Crew (my happy place).  I really loved the way the blue and the necklace complimented eachother.
Also... lucky me I got a wand curling iron! It took a couple of tries... but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it! So I curled my hair with that and then just pulled back the side.

PS:  Finding cute swimsuits that not every other girl already has has always been quite a trial.  But Ruche has put out a darling retro swim line! Check it out here.
.  They're not all quite as modest as I would hope, but I did see some one pieces!  I'm loving this print...
Mmm... One last thing... I'm LOVING this Crecuts necklace.  The bead remind me of lemon drops.  Plus statement lips are spot on right now, loving these summer trends! Try one!

Orange You Glad?

So yesterday I found this adorable orange skirt.  I know..

orange.

And I for one wasn't expecting it to go with much.  But... then I got home and right before my eyes were pretty much endless possibilities.

Just think of it... Honestly this skirt goes with all of these:

*aqua cardigan
*chambray buttondown
*white tees
*grey tees
*this white blousey top I have
*a blue and white gingham top (and of course the striped one I'm wearing in the pictures)
*pinks
*yellow (depends on the piece)
*and navy is soooo cute with it!

So today I picked a navy and white striped blouse (buttoned up pretty high for a little cheekier/nerdy take on it...but that's just me!) with the bright orange skirt, yellow t-straps, and my go-to olive crossbody bag.

Just ignore the really ugly red wristband... I'm having a competition with my friend to see who can keep theirs on longer.  But there's that olive bag! Satchel maybe? I never know.  I can't keep up with all the special names and such.

The yellow shoes up the brightness on this outfit, so fun and springy but still classy!

So I tried a new thing with my hair today.... found it in my new Lucky mag!

So first of all I started with blowdrying my hair.  They say not to worry about getting it all perfect and smooth for this (and since I
hate blowdrying that was a relief), and that it actually works better if your hair's a bit frizzy!

Next? I curled it.  I used a couple different sizes of hot rollers, making sure all the rolls go the same direction.  Left those in for 10-20 minutes-ish.

Then took my curlers out... let my hair cool for just a few minutes... and then I very, very gently brushed through it! And voila! So pretty! It gives your curls a kind of retro-look, if that makes any sense.  And it actually turned out way better than I'd expected.

So last but not least I swept back one side and pinned it with these two cute jeweled bobby pins.  A perfect understated little bling.

I know you can't really see the pins.... I couldn't get a good pic of them.  But basically they were these darling J. Crew bobby pins with different little jewels on the tips.  Cute, huh?

Shirt: J. Crew, Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT, Bag: J. Crew, Shoes: Old Navy (steal!! so cute with EVERYTHING and they look adorable for such a low price)

City Creek (for the Utah girls!)

Hello!
So yesterday I got to spend the ENTIRE day at my new haven. City Creek.  It's insane. I have no doubt that were I not with my mom, I would've been hopelessly lost because not only is it incredible fabulous, it is MASSIVE!  Think a couple of city blocks chock full with amazing clothes, shoes, accessories, and food. Not even kidding. So here a few quick pics I snapped in Gap of all places, the skirt is actually a DARLING orangey dress, and the top is just a polka dot t-shirt that I threw on over, then knotted to fit the style of the dress. The orange, blue, and white, is perfect for summer (so bold, bright, and young!).  And of course summer is all that's on our minds lately, what with spring break and all.
See? It actually works! With some cute little sandles? Adorable.

So I just had to share a quick photo... not really fashion related.... but it makes me smile.  We call it YOLO. As in You Only Live Once.  Or You Obviously Love One Direction.  Nerdy, I know. But whatever. Maybe we are nerds.  That's okay.  But this is what we did for Spring Break... tried to teach ourselves how to longboard, gorged on cadbury eggs, and then took a picture of us looking all hard core with our longboards:) So enjoy... Go ahead and laugh.  It's okay. Sometimes we end up doing stupid things and we accept it. That's okay:)

Told ya. We're nerds:) But we all needed a little fun in the sun.... What are YOU doing for your break??

My Secret Weapon

Sorry guys... It's been quite a while since I've posted, but in my defense life's been a little crazier than usual lately! I'm running for Sophomore Student Council and it's kind of taken over my life! (Just Do It... Vote for Reagan! I know. Overdone.  But my creativity does not extend to campaign slogans, unfortunately.)  But I have a treat for you today... I'm guessing that most of you shoe-lovers have already discovered this, but Alexis (a fellow shopaholic) hadn't! So I supposed I'd share this with all of you...
DSW. Designer Shoe Warehouse.  AKA Paradise.

No really! It's cheap (compared to some) and chock full of FABULOUS sandals, sneakers, heels, flats, even rainboots! Not kidding.  Found a DARLING pair of royal blue patent-ish snowboots that I begged for, but unfortunately did not receive. Anyways y'all really and truly need to check it out.  Here are a few samples I handpicked...

No words.

Metallic gold toes? Yes please!

I tried these on in the store in the gold glitter color: to die for!!

So usually I'm not a big fan of cheetah print on anything other than regular ballet flats, but my friend bought these and they are honestly some of the cutest shoes I've seen on.

Yup. Go to dsw.com.  And you'll never have to look anywhere else for shoes ever again... And keep in mind that these are just a teeny selection out of their thousands of shoes, so if you don't like what I've posted here, look it up for yourself! There's really something for every shoe-addict.
